DO YOU ACTIONSCRIPT? 04.02.08
If you don't - then you should.
ActionScript 3.0 is a full-fledged programming language that is fast surpassing most users expectations. Thanks to Big Daddy Adobe, the old ActionScript 2.0 is no more and AS3 is ushering in a new age of developers who are now embracing its Object Oriented Programming capabilities.
Frame-based Flash development can now be fully replaced by document class script files that control everything from display and animation to database interactivity and XML processing. With advanced event listeners and method handlers getting data in and out of a Flash component is a very real reality - greatly improving user interactivity.
Stirnkorb.com has been working with Flash since version 1.0 so if it's a Flash solution you're looking for, look no more! Not every designer is a developer and not every developer a designer. Stirnkorb.com breaks that proverbial mold and represents the very few among the web development community that operate in both arenas with the necessary level of proficiency expected from Chicagoland companies. Examples here.

I feel I break the proverbial mold somewhat by sticking to what the industry used to call 'full life cycle development'. (Remember how important that used to be?) In other words I've made it a point to involve myself with projects that afford me the opportunity to be a part of all aspects of development.
Whether it's meeting with the business department to help determine site needs and goals, doing asset gathering, front end creative, database construction, back end coding, technical documentation or even training I enjoy it all - and I'm quite capable of doing all of those tasks.
I've even been told that I do the work of 2 or 3 persons at times - and my reputation for meeting deadlines and delivering quality work within the allotted hours is impeccable thanks to my ability to efficiently manage my time, remain subjectively critical and stay highly organized for the duration of the job.
In the past I've focused strongly on the development of administrative systems used to manage content, CSS, and database aspects of both dynamic and static sites. This empowers my clients to never have to rely on me beyond the scope of their project - and in many cases saves them time and money post mortem. My credo is to get in, get it built, make sure it's scalable, get it deployed as close to bug-free as possible and move on.
Providing clients with exactly what they ask for and then delivering more than what they expect is very rewarding and something I strive for with each project."

Stirnkorb.com, Inc. was sub-contracted to develop an advanced image gallery modeled after the design of baseball player cards for Wilson Baseball. The project involved extensive use of Flash ActionScript and included the ability to sort through a randomly displayed stack of baseball cards in a variety of ways. Users could even simulate flipping the cards over to reveal either the front image or the back bio and statistical information for each individual player, e.g. position, team, league, glove used, etc. Data was read in and parsed from an XML file while a cleverly-built set of interacting functions supplied the logic with which to distribute and display the information in user friendly ways.
