Stirnkorb.com has done a handful of Flash ads for the Chicago Tribune, most notably ones for the Adler Planetarium and NewsDay.com. These ads are very small in size yet provide the end user with something that is appealing and that stands out on a web page. In some of the ads Javascript functionality was replicated using only Flash techniques and ActionScript - and done in a way to keep the ad still very lightweight in terms of size and code.
